City

Stavanger is an interesting city with much history, beautiful scenery and steadily expanding cultural, retailing and business activities. In the Viking Age more than a thousand years ago, Norway was united into a single realm at the battle of the Hafrs Fjord outside Stavanger. Ever since that time, people have met, traded and settled in our city. It ranks now as the fourth largest urban centre in Norway, with roughly 120 000 residents. The oil industry has made Norway and Stavanger prosperous, and given our region an international character. Some of the companies located here are in the forefront also as regards developing the environmentally friendly technology of the future. The Norwegian Oil Fund, now renamed the Pension Fund, is among the largest five in the world and ensures Norway’s buying capacity and investment ability in international companies that are developing the products of the future. Participating in Stavanger at EVS 24 might offer an opportunity to make your ideas or products known in this environment and also meet companies and institutions with a tremendous procurement capacity
